1. Start your vehicle to warm up the engine and leave it running for a few minutes before checking your transmission fluid. Then, put your car in park, and set the parking brake before opening the hood.
2. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. Usually, on front-wheel-drive vehicles, it’s found to the right of the oil dipstick. If you can’t find it, check your owner’s manual.
